AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a government IT solutions provider and one of the top 100 employee-owned companies in the U.S., today announced the appointment of Peter Pflugrath as vice president of Custom Business Applications (CBA). In this role, Pflugrath will oversee the CBA directorate’s work developing unique IT and systems integration solutions for government customers.

Pflugrath has more than 20 years of experience solving technical intelligence community challenges in large-scale data mining, advanced geospatial intelligence exploitation and net-centric data sharing. Prior to joining AMERICAN SYSTEMS, he held leadership positions at TASC, Stanley Associates and PRC, where he provided software and systems integration solutions to DoD and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) customers. In his most recent role as vice president of BBN Technologies, Pflugrath led initiatives in the areas of artificial intelligence, knowledge representation, virtual technologies, human cognition and distributed computing for the DoD and intelligence markets.
Pflugrath holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the College of William and Mary and a master’s in software engineering from George Mason University. He is based out of AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ Chantilly office.
