Mr. Byun serves as the Vice President and General Manager of Information Engineering Services at AMERICAN SYSTEMS where he oversees technology and solutions development across multiple business units. Since joining the company in 2007, Mr. Byun has leveraged his extensive background in IT, Software Development, Engineering Services, and Telecommunications to drive strategic growth and innovation. With over 35 years of industry experience, he has a proven track record of entrepreneurship, having co-founded several Telecom and IT companies that successfully went public. Mr. Byun holds patents in these fields, underscoring his contribution to technological advancements.

Under Mr. Byun’s leadership, AMERICAN SYSTEMS has attained a distinguished market position, securing contracts with significant entities such as the DoJ, DoD, USN, DHS, and the Intelligence Community. Mr. Byun has spearheaded several innovative business practices, including the establishment of Signal Intelligence, Spectrum Analysis, Counter-IED, and Forensics divisions. Additionally, he has enhanced operational efficiency by implementing standardized engineering practices based on CMMI and ISO across the organization. Mr. Byun’s extensive experience also includes serving on boards of numerous technology companies, advising technology accelerators, and providing guidance to venture capital firms.

Mr. Byun holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from the University of Virginia.
